Chief Master Sergeant L. Scott Osgood is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the State of Maine. As Command Chief, he serves as the advisor to the Adjutant General and staff on matters of health, welfare, morale, professional development and effective utilization of more than 1,067 enlisted personnel assigned to the Maine Air National Guard.           

In June, 1988, Chief Osgood enlisted in the Maine Air National Guard as a traditional Guardsman and entered Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. After Basic Training, he attended Aircraft Maintenance technical training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. He then received specialized training on KC-135 aircraft at Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, South Dakota. Chief Osgood participated in many deployments and Temporary Tours of Duty as a KC-135 crew chief in support of Operations NOBLE EAGLE, DENY FLIGHT, ENDURING FREEDOM, and ALLIED FORCE. These deployments took him to many locations throughout the world to include France, Crete, Guam, Diego Garcia, and Incirlik Air Base, Turkey where he deployed as a First Sergeant for the 90th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron. Chief Osgood also spent years as an Alpha Alert Force Crew Chief based out of Bangor, Maine. Chief Osgood became the First Sergeant for the 101st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron in January 2008. In October 2012, he was selected to serve as the Wing First Sergeant for the 101st Air Refueling Wing. In October 2016, Chief Osgood became the 101st Maintenance Group Superintendent. Prior to his current position, Chief Osgood was the Command Chief of the 101st Air Refueling Wing, Bangor, Maine.   

In his civilian career, Chief Osgood is a 26 year veteran Maine State Game Warden. As a Maine Game Warden his duties include certified, uniformed law enforcement work, protecting Maine’s inland fish and wildlife resources, protecting the public, conducting investigations, prosecuting violators, search and rescue operations, and educating the public on Maine’s fish and game laws, conservation of resources, and recreational safety through public speaking opportunities and interactions afield.
