MAJOR GENERAL ERNEST C. PARK

The Adjutant General - Maine

Maj. Gen. Ernest C. Park was The Adjutant General, and also served as the Commissioner of the Department of Defense and Veterans Services for the State of Maine. His responsibilities included the Command and Control, supervision of training, the administration of all assigned Army and Air National Guard units, and the activities of the Maine Veterans' Services.

Maj. Gen. Ernest C. Park received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maine at Orono in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Marines in August 1951, and joined the Maine Air National Guard in 1958, where he was assigned to the 132nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Dow Air Force Base, Bangor Maine, as a Navigator Trainee. His first assignment was radar interceptor officer, where in June 1964, he was granted the aeronautical rating of Senior Navigator of the 132nd Fighter Intercept Squadron at Bangor, and was then assigned as Weapons Systems Officer. The general went on to serve in various operations and command positions for the Maine Air National Guard, to include Commander of the 101st Consolidated Aircraft Squadron, and Deputy Commander for Maintenance for the 101st Air Refueling Wing. Prior to assuming his duties as The Adjutant General, the general served as the Chief of Staff for Air, Headquarters, Maine Air National Guard.
