Colonel Blair E. Tinkham

Colonel Blair E. Tinkham enlisted into the Maine Army National Guard in 1989 as a Rifleman with the 3/172nd Mountain Infantry Company in Brewer, Maine. On December 19, 1992, Colonel Tinkham became a commissioned officer in the 262nd Combat Engineer Battalion. In 1993, the 262nd Engineer Battalion deactivated, Colonel Tinkham transferred to the 152nd Maintenance Company and served several years in various leadership positions within the 286th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. Colonel Tinkham has commanded the 152nd Maintenance Company and 286th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. He has deployed twice to Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Colonel Tinkham has served as Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Maine at Orono. Colonel Tinkham has also held the Deputy Commander positions for both Major Support Commands, in the Maine Army National Guard. He has also held various positons in operations and logistics, at the Maine Army National Headquarters. From 2016-2018, Colonel Tinkham served as the Maine Army National Guard’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, From 2018-2019, Colonel Tinkham commanded the 52nd Troop Command. From 2019-2020, Colonel Tinkham served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations.

 

Colonel Tinkham currently serves the Chief of Staff for the Maine Army National Guard. He is responsible for all Maine Army National Guard functions and direct program operations. He oversees all full-time personnel programs. Sets the workload and priorities for 220 AGRs, and 255 Technicians. Develops long and short range plans and helps determine state ARNG program goals. He ensures the availability of equipment, facilities, funds, personnel authorizations, and training supplies to meet state program goals. He develops, implements, and communicates state ARNG policy for subordinate organizational goals. He also directs overall formulation and execution of a $70 million dollar budget.

 

Colonel Tinkham is married and resides with his wife Lynn and five children in Manchester, Maine.
