Brigadier General Diane L. Dunn serves as the Assistant Adjutant General, Maine Army National Guard responsible for leading and maintaining all aspects of readiness for approximately 1900 Soldiers assigned to 38 National Guard units. Designated as the Deputy Adjutant General, she serves as the principal assistant to the Adjutant General for all strategic initiatives to include the State Partnership Program, Arctic Interest Council, Force Structure Modernization, Talent Management and Officer Assignments. BG Dunn provides strategic guidance to the Land Component Commander, serves as Dual Status Commander during emergency response, represents The Adjutant General at National Conferences and oversees Joint Staff Development and Training.
General Dunn’s recent assignments include serving as the Maine Army National Guard Chief of Staff; Brigade Commander of the 120th Regional Support Group (Bangor); NGB/NNC J3/5/7 Vigilant Guard Joint Regional Exercise Branch Chief and Battalion Commander of 286th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion to include its deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom, Kandahar, Afghanistan OEF09.
General Dunn has a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Maine and a Master’s of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. She currently resides in Newburgh, Maine with her husband, Jim. They have three children and three grandchildren.
